One similarity of Apple’s iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro is the phone’s battery life or lack thereof. They provide acceptable battery life, yet this is a step back from 2019’s devices. generally get about four and a half hours of usage per charge on a mix of 5G, 4G, and WiFi. And for most people, that only a day’s usage, with a small buffer. For example, I could have a day and a half from the iPhone 11 and also the iPhone XR. A full day per charge is tolerable, however this would have been good to have more of a safety net especially on those days where there is heavy usage.

And on a charging related note, the company, Apple has made a rather interesting decision to cease bundling power bricks & earbuds with devices for environmental concerns. So all you’ll receive in the box, other than your iPhone, is a USB Type C to Lightning cable. Most don’t think this is a deal breaker. EarPods aren’t the best, and most people will have a power brick already. The tricky thing is the company’s selection of cable. You’ll need a power brick that comes with a USB_C port to use the cord and unless you’re coming from the iPhone 11 Pro Max, your iPhone charger will be made with a full-sized USB connector.
However you can always use your current charger, however you will miss out on the the faster charging speeds the iPhone 12 is capable of. Should you wish to purchase a USB-C charging adaptor, you’re spending around $39.99 in order to purchase one.
Magnetic Charger
and of course, Apple now now has a new wireless charging protocol: . MagSafe is a circular shaped wireless charger that uses magnets to connect onto the rear of your iPhone 12. This provides perfect connection to have the fastest wireless charge, this also means you can use your phone while it’s juicing and you can’t with a non MagSafe charger. You’ll able to have a faster top up using a traditional charger, but MagSafe is able to take your iPhone 12 from zero charge up to about 40% in around half an hour.
Naturally buying MagSafe is going to cost you. You’ll need to spend $64.99 just for the charger itself, as well as another $29 should you need the USB C charging adaptor. If you are wanting the magnets to snap to your cover, you’ll also need a MagSafe case. The MagSafe charger can provide charge through most cases, it will not stick to non MagSafe cases. MagSafe cases and covers are priced from $78.99.
While there are aspects of Apple’s MagSafe which are OEM, it still functions as a regular old wireless charger that functions with any phone that has it. The charge is a bit slower, however as fast. At the moment, MagSafe is a new, fun and somewhat expensive option, and I am curious in seeing where MagSafe will end up.
Because the majority of iPhone owners do not need a MagSafe charger for home, there sure is a lot of potential when it comes to MagSafe accessories such as car holders where it will genuinely save time.
